Seattle Plumbing Experts Tackle Summer Problems

Summer Plumbing Issues

Summer may not be the first season that comes to mind when it comes to dealing with major plumbing issues, but very similar to the winter, there are numerous environmental and lifestyle factors that can take a toll on your home. It’s both important to be aware of these issues, so you can both prevent them, but also know when it’s time to call your Seattle plumbing experts. Some of the most common plumbing problems during the summer include:

Clogged Disposal

Summer means tons of cookout and family get togethers but this can also result in tons of leftover food. It’s important to be careful of how you dispose of food waste, especially hard fruits and vegetables including corn and watermelon. This type of food can damage the blades – leading to a clogged disposal system. Also avoid pouring dirty grease or oil down the drain after grilling as these are also damaging. Make sure to run water before and after you use your disposal to clear any remaining food.

Washing Machine Maintenancegarbage

Your washing machine usually goes through more cycles during the summer than any other time of the year, especially with kids home all day. Trips to the beach or pool also add to the extra loads of laundry that needs to be done, which can put a strain on your washing machine. It’s important to not overload your washer and make sure to move it away from the wall to prevent the hose from kinking.

Clogged Toilets

Household toilets get more use during the summer as you have family visit, summer parties and kids home from school. Common clogs are pretty easy to clear with a plunger, but if the problem gets worse don’t hesitate to call one of our Seattle plumbing experts.

Sprinkler Issues

Everyone wants that beautiful green lawn during the summer, but if you have a sprinkler system embedded in your lawn you have to regularly check and clean the sprinkler heads. They can get clogged with all sorts of debris that can cause some plumbing problems. Also when mowing the grass or doing other yardwork, double-check that the heads are lowered, so you don’t damage them.
Summer is a busy time of year; so don’t let plumbing issues get in the way of all your fun. If you do run into any of the plumbing issues mentioned above, don’t hesitate to give Jim Dandy a call at 206-633-1141 or 425-454-8153. We’ll send one of our Seattle plumbing experts as soon as possible!
