Sewer Line Video Inspection washington

How is a video camera used?

The use of a video camera in your sewer line can help us better diagnose sewer backups and sewer line and drain problems. Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing offers the latest technology in video sewer and plumbing drain inspection throughout the Puget Sounds.

Sewer Lateral Pipe Lining

A sewer line video camera is a small camera that uses infrared lighting to illumine the inside of a sewer pipe. It contains a small transmitter. The video camera is attached to the end of a sewer cable, just like the radio transmitter. The camera is pushed down the drain or sewer line. A technician receives the closed-circuit live picture and views it on a monitor as the picture records to a videotape. The plumbing video camera also sends a signal to the receiver held by the technician. This allows the technician to know where the camera is and how deep it is. Therefore, the camera locates the actual break so we know where to conduct excavation services in Seattle, WA, and nearby areas.

  • Locates a break in a drain line
  • Identifies the location of a drain line
  • Visually identifies a break
  • Confirms the present condition of the line
  • Provides you with a recorded video of your sewer line

At the bottom of this page is an example of a sewer scope video we recently did for a customer.

  • In what diameter lines can the camera be used?
  • The camera can be used in 3" to 18" diameter lines.

What are the benefits of a camera location over a radio location?

The sewer camera inspection allows you to actually see the interior condition of the drain line. It also lets you see the material the drain line is made from. You can tell if the problem with your drain line is in a specific location, or if the whole line or a portion of the sewer line needs replacing. If there is a break in the line, the camera not only confirms the location of the break but allows you to see the nature of the break, as well. A camera can also be used to visually inspect the condition of a sewer line when planning to connect another sewer into the line. It can also be used for pre-house sales or whenever the need arises to confirm that a sewer is in good condition.

As an additional courtesy, we will upload your Seattle video sewer line inspection to YouTube for your convenient viewing needs or sharing requirements!

Property Dispute? Have Your Sewer Line Inspected to Determine the Exact Source of the Break

Sometimes you know you have a sewer line break because you can smell foul odors or you have a sewage back-up in your home. It is important to pinpoint the exact location of the break-in in your sewer line. Often times the break can be on the city side of the sewer line and knowing this can save you thousands of dollars in repairs. Simply sharing a copy of your sewer line video with the city inspector can solve the problem. The technicians and plumbers at Jim Dandy Sewer and Plumbing can make a copy of your sewer scope video on a thumb drive so that you always have a copy for your insurance company, realtor, or city inspector.

Also since tree lines often invade sewer lines and cause blockages and breaks, it is important to know where the trees roots are invading from. If your neighbor is the owner of the tree invading your side sewer line, then you may not be responsible for repairs that are necessary on your broken sewer pipe.

We offer sewer video scopes of your sewer line to identify blockages, damaged pipes, and points where tree roots may be invading the sewer line and causing major plumbing issues in your home. This page contains password-protected videos that are available for private viewing by our customers.
